MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA
Mother Teresa of Calcutta is known to society as a saint who devoted her life to helping and caring for the unwanted, sick, disabled, poor, and dying (“Mother Teresa”). She was born in the republic of Macedonia on August 26, 1910 (“Mother Teresa”). Mother Teresa was baptized Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu (“Mother Teresa”). Mother Teresa went by a different names like most nuns. She had catholic parents who cared for her (“Mother Teresa”). Unfortunately, her father passed away when she was only eight (“Mother Teresa”). When she turned 18 she decided to become a nun so she joined the Loreto Sisters of Dublin in Ireland (“Mother Teresa”). She then heard a calling from God himself telling her to go to India to serve “the poor, the sick, the dying and the little children (“Mother Teresa”). Mother Teresa was recognized by people all over the world for her charity and hard work she received many awards like the Nobel prize for Peace (“Blessed Mother Teresa”). Mother Teresa passed away on September 5, 1997 in India (“Mother Teresa”). “She was beatified on October 19, 2003, reaching the ranks of the blessed in what was then the shortest time in the history of the church” (“Blessed Mother Teresa”). She was an amazing woman who cared for others and had the knowledge to change society for the better. Mother Teresa of Calcutta’s legacy lives on and she is a symbol of an awe-inspiring religious leader.
